Shelf life of eye shadow. Decorative cosmetics - expiration dates and storage rules. Rules for storage and use

Shadows are a universal cosmetic product that will suit everyone. But in order to correctly emphasize the eyes, there is little theory: practice is important. It is worth noting that mistakes are inevitable in the early stages, so try not only to find good eye shadow, but also learn how to use them correctly.

What's wrong with expired shadows?

Any cosmetics that have expired are dangerous, but eyeshadows that come into direct contact with the skin of the eyelids are especially distinguished. Due to the long use of eye shadow with an expiration date that has already expired, you may experience:

  • conjunctivitis;
  • dacryocystitis;
  • blepharitis.

In milder situations, the following problems may arise:

  • rash;
  • redness;
  • allergy;
  • irritation with painful sensations;
  • edema.

And do not think that all this does not apply to expensive cosmetic products. Exclusive and high-quality shadows can be dangerous just like any other cheap palette.

How to determine the expiration date?

Each palette has 2 expiration dates: before and after opening.

It is best to immediately pay attention to the overall expiration date of eye shadow, before opening. It is this indicator that will help you decide whether to buy cosmetics.

The expiration date is written in date/month/year format. Some palettes use the exact number: 6M (6 months), 12M (1 year), 24M (2 years).

As a rule, dry shadows are resistant to external irritants, which means they have a longer shelf life. The shelf life of eye shadow after opening, having a solid consistency, is no more than 3 years, and cream - 6-12 months.

How to save shadows?

It happens that the shadows begin to break, crumble and are applied worse even before the expiration date. It is important to store and use them correctly:

  • It is best to leave the eyeshadow palette closed and out of direct sunlight.
  • To make the shadows easy to pick up with a brush, take some duct tape and use it to remove the top layer of the entire palette. Cosmetics will be applied much better, and the color will become richer. This problem occurs when, during the operation of shadows, the application is carried out with dirty brushes, the bristles of which are not washed or stained in another sticky agent.
  • Wash your makeup brushes regularly! This applies not only to shadow, but also tonal, contouring.
  • After you have washed the brush, let the bristles dry. In no case should you pick up shadows with a wet or damp brush, this can lead to uneven application and a damaged palette.

Wipe the brushes with micellar water after each application of cosmetics, wash 1-2 times a week.

How to understand that it's time to throw out the shadows

Even the most long-wearing eyeshadows, expensive and high quality ones, can go bad. To understand that it is time to get rid of a cosmetic product, evaluate it according to these signs:

  • the presence of an unpleasant, irritating odor;
  • shadows crumble and break at the slightest movement of the palette;
  • color change (as a rule, the shadows become lighter on the surface, darken in the middle);
  • the packaging is deformed, swells;
  • shading shadows takes a long time, they are poorly applied.

What about the expiration date of a set of cosmetics in a suitcase?

A set of cosmetics in the form of several palettes has 2 expiration dates: total (all products from the same manufacturer) and single (various boxes with cosmetics or sets).

  • Total. Cosmetics that are made by the same company may have the same expiration date indicated on the packaging. It is worth noting that if there are other products (foundation, powder) in the suitcase in addition to eye shadow palettes, then they will have a completely different expiration date.
  • Single. Relevant for assemblies of cosmetics from different manufacturers. The expiration date of eye shadows in the boxes is different, look for it on the palette.

Selection of shadows based on the color type of a woman

Conventionally, all faces can be divided into 4 types:

To avoid mistakes, follow these rules:

To determine the expiration date of eye shadow, just look carefully at the product palette and read the information provided on it. Dry shadows have a longer shelf life, and cream ones are exposed to external conditions, as a result of which they can deteriorate.

All cosmetics have two expiration dates. The first indicates the production date or expiration date, even for unopened products. The second - reports on how long you can use cosmetics after opening the package.

Before buying, you should pay attention to the total expiration date of the product, which is broken, as a rule, at the seam of the product in the usual “day / month / year” format. This will help you understand whether you will have time to use the product before the expiration date or not. For example, it makes no sense to buy a large eyeshadow palette 2 months before it becomes unusable for eye makeup.

After purchase, an important indicator of the expiration date is a badge with an open jar and the indication "6M" (six months), "12M" (one year) or "24M" (two years).

Shadows are among the most long-lasting cosmetics - first of all, this applies to shadows with a dry texture. After opening, they can be used for about two years. However, if you use cream shadows, the period of their use is reduced to six months.

So that you do not have to inadvertently use an expired product, stick a sticker on the bottom of the eyeshadow palette indicating the date it was first opened. This will simplify the revision of the cosmetic bag and allow you to get rid of expired cosmetics in time.

Even if the expiration date has not yet expired, eye shadows can change their texture, begin to crumble upon application, and worsen on the eyelid due to improper storage and use. To prevent this, you need to follow some rules:

    Store shadows in a dry place, out of direct sunlight.

    If the surface of the shadows is rubbed and difficult to pick up with a brush, remove the top layer with adhesive tape. The surface of the shadows will become like new.

    Don't use a wet brush to pick up shadows directly from the palette. It is better to moisten the brush after a set of shadows - this will prevent the appearance of bacteria.

    Wash your makeup brushes regularly.

Do you know the expiration date of cosmetics? British scientists have found that most women not only do not know how long beauty products are stored, but also seriously harm their health by using expired cosmetics...

A survey of the fair sex showed that 89% of women do not know, do not understand, or simply do not pay attention to the expiration dates indicated on the packaging of cosmetics.

For example, the shelf life of mascara is 4-6 months, while women store and use it for actually 12 months. But old mascara can cause the development of conjunctivitis, redness of the eyes, swelling and itching of the eyelids.

Eye shadows should last 18-24 months at most, but in fact they are in a woman's cosmetic bag for 180 months. Eyebrow pencil instead of 18 serves ladies for 96 months, lipstick instead of 12-24 - 120 months, lip and eye pencil: instead of 18 - 12 months.

There is an expiration date for perfume. So, the average shelf life reaches 36, but in fact it is stored for 96 months.

Sooner or later, this question arises before every woman.

What to do in autumn with your favorite jars and tubes designed to protect the skin from the scorching summer sun? It’s a pity to throw it away, and next summer is still far away ... Moreover, many cosmetic products simply do not have an expiration date! And decorative cosmetics like pencils and eyeshadows don't seem to go bad at all. When to retire cosmetics?

About ten or twenty years ago, we were assured that cosmetics can be used as long as they do not change the smell, texture or appearance. Today, this approach does not suit us at all: it is important for us to get a result, we want to know exactly how long this or that remedy is not just “suitable for use”, but gives an effect, does not lose its properties.

According to European standards, cosmetics can be stored for at least 36 months.

Unopened! As soon as you open the package, start the countdown: after the first use, thousands of microbes enter the jar or bottle. Of course, you should not be afraid of this - it is to combat them that manufacturers add preservatives to their products. However, each tool has its own deadline ...

Use immediately will have the contents of the ampoules. The highly concentrated substances contained in them are very sensitive to the influence of light and heat, and preservatives are usually absent in them. After opening the ampoule, use it for its intended purpose within an hour.

The same applies to hair dyes: even if you really want to save money and "stretch the pleasure" twice, don't do it. As a result of using the remnants of paint after a few days, you can get a completely unexpected shade of hair.

3 – 4 months- one season - you can store and use creams with UV filters: the protection factor gradually decreases, you can use them only for one season, after which the cream will no longer protect you from ultraviolet rays. However, this does not mean that the cream will have to be thrown away: you can continue to use it for a couple of months as a nourishing body cream.

But with those funds that you bought for sun protection on the seashores, you need to part without regret - they definitely do not live longer than one season. It is recommended to use cosmetics that contain vitamin C for no more than 3 months.

Up to 5 months

Eye care products retain their qualities: they contain very few preservatives, as the latter can harm this ultra-sensitive skin. After opening the package, use the cream or emulsion daily: the effect will be more noticeable, and the tube will end in a month.

For 4-5 months, you need to use mascara: it quickly deteriorates from constant contact with air and our cilia, and dries out with rare use. In this case, you should not dilute it with water, lotions and other liquids, as our older sisters once did - this way you can spoil the mascara rather than continue its existence.

About half a year

Relegated to moisturizing, nourishing, regenerating facial skin care products: if you store them at room temperature away from direct sunlight. As soon as the temperature rises, the oils contained in cosmetics begin to deteriorate.

6 months is the deadline for using liquid foundations and foundations.

Up to 8 months

Use self-tanners, liquid eyeliners and body lotions. Although some experts argue that the dyes in self-tanning products are very short-lived and are destroyed upon contact with air. But if it's a spray, feel free to use it for a year.

1 year

released powders: both compact and loose.

You can use eye shadow for the same amount of time and even more than this. On that condition, of course, if you monitor the condition of the brushes, applicators and sponges.

At least once a week, they want to be washed, and if you are too lazy to do this, then it is better to periodically buy new ones, and get rid of the “old” ones.

The same amount of time you can use skin cleansers in bottles with dispensers. Although, if you use the same remedy regularly, it is unlikely to be enough for this period.

This is exactly what cosmetologists advise to do, contrary to popular belief about the "addiction of the skin" to the same product. On the contrary, “staying faithful” can count on a lasting effect. Provided the quality of the product, of course.

A little more than a year you can use antibacterial foams.

Two years - maximum life for lipsticks, glosses, as well as shampoos and shower gels. Under the same storage conditions: room temperature without fluctuations, no sunlight.

Nevertheless, intuition always tells you that it’s still not worth storing lipstick for years: too often it comes into contact with a whole army of microbes.

Three years The most persistent and hardy ones “live”: contour pencils for lips and eyes, as well as deodorants.

Perfumes can also be "old-timers" if you follow the storage regime that they prefer: it is important for them to be in a cool, dry place, away from the sun. Namely - in his "native" box. And it is best to buy the fragrance in a spray - then it is free from contact with the skin, which significantly increases the chances of longevity.

Work on mistakes

The most common misconception about storing cosmetics is the advice to hide them in the refrigerator. Even some consultants stubbornly advise you to store your magic jars next to yogurts and sausages. In fact, our tireless fighters for beauty need stability - i.e. the same room temperature.

Speaking of fragrances

Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne last much longer than "pure" Parfum: the alcohol content prolongs their life.

But natural essential oils are fragile creatures. The more of them, the sooner the smell of perfume will change. It is believed that even a few hours spent in the sun change the smell of the fragrance for the worse.

practical

- give preference to products with dispensers: they are spent more economically and stored better, avoiding contact with air and our fingers.

- store all jars and vials in their "native" packaging. The boxes will not only protect from the sun's rays, but will always remind you why you bought it, how it works and how often you need to use it.

- indicate the date of opening on the package. This is not at all difficult, but a good habit: opened - write the date. Now you will know exactly how much time you can still use this or that tool.

— more often to conduct an "inventory" of their cosmetic wealth.

By disassembling and sorting the ranks of your assistants and defenders, you can not only ruthlessly get rid of centenarians, but also analyze the logic and expediency of your purchases: maybe you will be surprised to find that you often buy something that you don’t use at all. I just liked the packaging or the sales assistant was too eloquent ...

In this case think before opening the package: after all, in unopened form you can store

perfumes, deodorants - 5 years, pencils and powders - 3.5 years

creams, gels and lotions - 3 years.

Of course counting should be from the date of manufacture(if not indicated on the package, it means that it is encrypted in a barcode and you will have to ask the seller), and not from the day when you had an exacerbation of shopping addiction.

Send unopened boxes to a cool, dry place and don't be discouraged: during this time (even 3 years is such a long time!) you will definitely find a reason to give it to someone, or still use it for your own good.

Not so long ago, I wrote a post about the expiration dates of cosmetics, and how to check and make it easier for yourself in tracking it. If you missed it, you can read it here.

Today I would like to discuss with you the expiration date of eye shadow. It is no secret that this cosmetic product is the longest-lived in our cosmetic bags. And we all know that they, like any other cosmetics, have an expiration date.

But for some reason, many, and I am no exception, do not pay attention to this. My oldest eye shadow is 6 years old. The term is not the oldest, but sufficient to be sure that it has ended.

In the context of this discussion, I am only referring to dry shadows. Since cream or liquid ones let you know about the end of their shelf life with an unpleasant odor or a change in consistency. But most of the dry ones - at least henna.)))

Purely theoretically, I understand that they should be thrown away. But how to throw away a 5-color palette from DIOR in which the bottom is not visible in more than one shade? My hands don't go up.

And so it is with respect to all shadows and palettes.

And how do you feel about this? Do you check the expiration date of your eye shadow? How old is your oldest eyeshadow palette or not?

There are girls for whom the expiration date of shadows, blush, powder, gloss or lipstick does not matter. Motivating this by the fact that it is a pity to throw away the shadows or blush that are not fully used, although they were opened 6 years ago.

How do expired cosmetics change? Whether such cosmetics is used? Will it harm your health?

How long to keep eye shadow

When buying eye shadow or face powder, you need to carefully study the shelf life and expiration date. There are manufacturers who hide the date of manufacture and expiration date under a special code. To get full information on such a powder, shadow or blush, you must contact a service representative.

In a closed and sealed package, eye shadow can be stored for no more than three years. With depressurized packages, eye shadow can be stored for no more than 1.5 years.

Eyeshadows that are water based are considered perishable. Due to the liquid in their composition, they are given a short shelf life so that bacteria and germs do not breed there. There are practically no microorganisms in cosmetics that contain little or no water.

Eye shadows, which are made up of natural ingredients, also have a short shelf life.

The reason is that no preservatives are added to such cosmetics. Therefore, the development of microorganisms can occur more actively. Be sure the manufacturer must indicate on the packaging of natural eye shadow, the period of operation and storage after opening.

The shelf life of the foundation is not more than a year. Such time frames can also be attributed to compact face powder, and blush, as well as liquid cream. In order for the sponges not to start bacteria, they must be changed or washed in very hot water.

Lipstick shelf life

Lipstick can be stored for no more than three years in unopened packaging.

An open tube of lipstick is stored from a year to 1.5 years. Lip gloss or lipstick is sealed very tightly to prevent heat and bacteria from getting into the middle of the tube. You should not store lip cosmetics after it has been exposed to temperature.

Blush for the face and their shelf life

Blush for the face, as well as powder, can be stored for about three years.

It is necessary to protect the blush for the face from the sun and thermal effects on them. Blush can quickly harden from the ingress of sebum from the face, which is transferred with a sponge, brushes and applicators. In order not to spoil the blush for the face, it is best to change these items for new ones within a month.

What affects the quality of cosmetics?

The most expensive cosmetics are not protected from time, so they also deteriorate with time.

A hermetically sealed tube can store the product much longer than an open one, since bacteria and air from the environment do not get into it. Even if you use special applicators, you still won’t save the cosmetic from the expiration date. The activity of some components may decrease due to the oxidative reaction that occurs between the air and the cosmetic product itself.

How do you know if a product has expired?

Expired cosmetics may not have mold, a sour smell, or peeling components. Such factors indicate that the shadows are not suitable for further use:

  • The shade changes or they completely discolor.
  • The appearance of lumps, bundles, or they begin to stretch, this is a violation of the consistency.
  • There is a foreign smell, most often unpleasant.
  • The packaging bulges.
  • They fade and don't fit well.

What danger comes from expired cosmetics?

Conducting a series of studies, scientists from Great Britain proved that cosmetics that have expired can be hazardous to health.

Eye shadow can cause the most damage because it comes into contact with sensitive skin and is close to the retina. Toxins that are in a bad product adversely affect the human body. A person can develop blepharitis, conjunctivitis, and dacryocystitis as a result of using end-of-life cosmetics.

The use of an expired product does not always end with an eye disease, sometimes it can simply produce side effects such as irritation, rash, itching and redness. Regardless of whether expensive cosmetics or cheap, but after the expiration date, it is dangerous.

How to increase the shelf life?

To prevent eye shadow from spoiling ahead of time, you must adhere to the rules for proper storage:

  • The cosmetic must be kept in a dry and dark place at room temperature.
  • It is not recommended to throw away the film that is in the box, as it is intended for additional protection of the shadows.
  • Avoid using cosmetics with your hands, as the risk of breeding bacteria increases. For greater safety, it is best to use brushes and applicators.
  • After use, the brush should be rinsed and dried well.
  • It is strictly forbidden to dilute the shadows with saliva or water.
  • Not recommended for general use.
  • After the package falls to the floor, it must be treated with alcohol.
  • It is best to purchase cosmetics in specialized stores.

The Federal Law of the Russian Federation "On the Protection of Consumer Rights" stands guard over the violation of the rights of its citizens.

If the buyer has purchased a defective or expired product, he has the right to exchange or return it. To do this, you will need to write a complaint or claim. If the seller refuses to comply with the requirements of the consumer, then the latter has the right to apply to the organization for the protection of rights or to the court.

9 chose

Last time I wrote about storing cosmetics for personal care - about creams, masks, scrubs ... Now it's time for a short review of decorative cosmetics. More precisely, the terms of its storage.

Each of us in a cosmetic bag, in a bathroom, on a dressing table or in a drawer of a bedside table, there will surely be at least five different mascaras, several palettes of shadows, a lot of lipsticks of different shades.

Not to mention the rest of the set of tools, without which we cannot imagine makeup. And there is always one favorite mascara, lipstick or eyeliner. How much can we store them, not using every day, when there are so many other means around that we will never stop experimenting with?

Tone cream

Liquid foundation is good for six months from the moment of first use, after which its effectiveness deteriorates noticeably, in addition, it can begin to clog pores.

It must be stored in a dark place protected from moisture.

Corrector

Therapeutic and basic corrector is stored one year. After this period, it begins to deteriorate and melt very quickly.

If you apply it with your fingers, close the tube first to prevent air from getting in.

Powder

Compact powder stored from half a year to a year. After that, even if its structure and smell have not changed, you still should not use powder. Loose powder without preservatives stored six months. But if it still contains preservatives (for example, talc), its shelf life increases to two to three years.

To make it last even longer, close the box as tightly as possible, protect from heat and moisture, and use brushes or sponges to apply.

Eyeshadow

Cream eyeshadow has a limited lifespan. one year. But with dry shadows, the situation is more joyful - they can serve you for a whole three years. After all, the "drier" the composition, the longer their life expectancy. It is important to remember that dry shadows are less susceptible to heat than oily ones.

It is best to store them in a place well protected from moisture.

Eye and lip pencils

Pencil shelf life one year from the first use. And keep an eye on the way you store it: a dark, cool place, like a refrigerator, will help to avoid its destruction. You also need to try to sharpen it more often.

Remember: if the pencil ceases to be usable, you will only notice this when it has already irritated the contour of the eyes or lips, or even provoked the appearance of acne.

Eyeliner

Due to the liquid consistency, the eyeliner dries very quickly.

If this eyeliner is with a thin brush, its term is six months. If it's a practical eye contour pen, it dries twice as fast. But dry eyeliner, on the contrary, lives up to 9 months.

Mascara

Unfortunately, it dries too quickly: for 6, maximum - 9 months. The fact that it has dried up, you yourself will quickly understand: the mascara simply will not lie on the eyelashes, in addition, it can begin to crumble and even cause irritation of the skin of the eyelids.

Compact, frequently used mascara generally lasts only two months. So, probably, it is better to use it - effectively, not a pity, and most importantly - you can often change it.

There is no special way to store the carcass - it is already perfectly protected from light and air, wherever it is.

Lipstick, lip gloss

You can store them 9-12 months. These cosmetics are photosensitive. Therefore, in order to extend their lifespan, try to hide them at least in a cosmetic bag, and if they are in a transparent package, also in a case.

In addition, close the cap tightly - after a while, lipstick and gloss can simply begin to dry out. And in no case do not store them in the refrigerator: low temperature can change the composition of lipstick - destroy the molecules responsible for caring for your lips.

Makeup removers

If you wash off makeup with two-phase products that contain essential oils, they will stretch 6 to 9 months. But if you use milk or water, consider yourself lucky: they will be "alive" whole year.

But both are best stored in a dark place.

Nail polish

It becomes too sticky and viscous already in a year, so after this period it is better to throw it away in order to avoid unsuccessful attempts to make a manicure quickly and beautifully. The varnish cannot be stored in the refrigerator, because at low temperatures it becomes too liquid. But it is better for him to avoid heat - at high temperatures, he dries faster. And in order to close the bottle cap more tightly, periodically clean the neck with nail polish remover.

By the way, nail polish remover also stored one year. After that, it becomes less effective. And try to avoid cheap solvents: along with varnish, they also remove the protective layer of the nails themselves.

But the most dangerous circumstance is when bacteria develop. This happens because organic components are present in the shadows, albeit in small quantities. The printed product is no longer sterile. Air penetrates inside the package, and with it harmful microorganisms. After the expiration date, they begin to actively multiply.

Studies have shown that common bacteria found in the shadows were E. coli, streptococci, infections that cause allergic swelling.

It should be said that expired goods are dangerous to health. This is due to the fact that the skin absorbs particles of cosmetics, taking the first blow on itself. As a result, there is inflammation of the eyelids. Often the texture crumbles, while getting into the eyes, causing irritation of the mucous membrane.

Expired shadows can cause unpleasant pathologies:

  • blepharitis;
  • conjunctivitis;
  • allergies.

At first, the immune system actively fights the aggressor, but if you regularly paint your eyes with old means, it can no longer cope, which leads to subsequent inflammation of the skin.

In the case when, after applying makeup with expired shadows, no pathological changes have occurred, one should not think that everything is fine. Here we should thank the body's defenses, which coped with the aggressive environment. However, think about it, why waste immunity on this? Better keep an eye on the expiration dates of the palettes in your makeup bag.

Usually hermetically sealed shadows are stored for up to 3-5 years. The period depends on the consistency, type, composition. Recently, mineral cosmetics have become popular. Often on sites you can find information that such funds do not have an expiration date. However, one of the ingredients in this eyeshadow is titanium dioxide, which degrades after 18 months. Therefore, do not believe everything that they write, be vigilant.

If by the appearance and smell of liquid and fatty bases it will still be possible to understand that they have deteriorated, then it is more difficult with dry bases.

The period of use must always be indicated on the packaging. If there is an M6 sign on it, the manufacturer has indicated the freshness of the product for up to 6 months. The palette does not always have a marking where the month and year are affixed. So, you can just see the number 12 against the background of the printed package.

It happens that information is hidden by certain symbols, but it should not be mistaken for a barcode. If you can’t figure it out on your own, contact a sales consultant for help.

On imported products, the term may be contained under a sticker on which the translation is printed. If the packaging does not have the necessary information, it is better not to purchase such shadows.

In the case when you bought a product without paying attention to the expiration date or the label is rubbed and the data cannot be disassembled, use the generally accepted terms that apply to shadows after unpacking:

  1. Water-based eye cosmetics - no more than 4 months, since such a composition is an excellent breeding ground for bacteria.
  2. Oily (creamy) textures - about 12-16 weeks. The base is favorable for the growth of pathogens.
  3. Shadows, which include natural ingredients - 4 months.
  4. Dry - up to 1.5 years.
  5. Mineral shadows - 6-12 months.

Remember the rules for storing cosmetics. In order for eyelid products to last longer and not deteriorate prematurely, follow certain rules:

  1. Keep shadows in a dark place.
  2. Temperature - room temperature. Changes in the degree of air reduce the service life, especially for liquid and cream foundations.
  3. Direct sunlight has a negative effect. Avoid such storage.
  4. The applicator should be systematically washed with soapy water and disinfected with alcohol.
  5. Do not apply shadows with your fingers, use special brushes.
  6. The optimal placement is drawers, shelves in closed bedside tables, lockers.
  7. Do not store cosmetics in the bathroom, as high humidity is a detrimental factor for its texture.

Observing the rules of operation, hygiene, shadows will last as long as they should. Remember, any cosmetics is an individual product, so you should not share it with strangers.

Do not risk your health by using shadows, the suitability of which is in doubt, it is better to throw away such a product without regret.

The main signs of delay:

  • swelling, deformation of the package;
  • the texture is poorly applied, rolls;
  • colors faded;
  • the consistency is stratified;
  • unpleasant odor;
  • there was itching, swelling, irritation.

Carefully monitor the expiration date of decorative cosmetics, do not use old shadows, even if you really like them.

Eyeshadow- one of the main tools in creating makeup. Thanks to the correct selection and use of colors, you can visually reduce or enlarge the eyes, give them depth. Competent selection of a combination of colors will provide you with admiring glances of others.

Do you know the expiration date of cosmetics? British scientists have found that most women not only do not know how long cosmetics should be stored, but also seriously harm their health by using expired cosmetics. A survey of the fair sex showed that 89% of women do not know, do not understand, or simply do not pay attention to the expiration dates indicated on the packaging of cosmetics.

The shelf life of products made from natural ingredients is significantly reduced. They do not add preservatives that could protect the shadows from the influence of harmful microorganisms. On the packaging of natural cosmetics, it must be indicated how much it is recommended to use after opening.

Why the quality of cosmetics is declining:
Even today's expensive eyeshadows start to deteriorate over time. An open tool is constantly in contact with a non-sterile environment in which many viruses and microbes live. The quality of the shadows is reduced even when using a special applicator. In addition, the reaction of the agent with air leads to oxidation and disruption of the activity of some components.
The packaging also affects the shelf life of the product. The wider its neck, the faster cosmetics lose their quality and effect. For example, liquid eyeshadow in a tube is more protected from contact with air, fingers, and pathogens.

Signs of expired funds:
Spoiled cosmetics do not have to be covered with a layer of mold, sour or exude a vile aroma.
The following signs indicate that it is time to throw out the shadows:
their shade changes or discolors;
the consistency deteriorates (it becomes mucous, exfoliates, lumps appear);
an unpleasant odor appears;
the packaging swells;
shadows do not fit well and are shaded.

!!! What are the dangers of expired shadows
British scientists as a result of a number of scientific works have revealed that expired cosmetics are dangerous to health. Expired eyeshadows are especially harmful, as they come into direct contact with the sensitive area of the eyes. In old cosmetics, pathogenic bacteria and toxins that can cause various diseases multiply rapidly.
Using expired shadows can cause: conjunctivitis, dacryocystitis, blepharitis.
Even if eye diseases can be avoided, the risk of exacerbation of existing or the appearance of new skin problems increases: rash, irritation, redness, itching.
The danger after the expiration date is fraught with not only cheap, but also the most expensive and effective means.

Little tricks to lengthen the shelf life of cosmetics:
1. Keep cosmetics in a place where the sun's rays, moisture, and where there is no sharp temperature change. Most modern eyelid products are perfectly preserved at room conditions;
2. Do not throw away paper or a layer of polyethylene that can be found under the lid of a new product: this is an additional protection for shadows from microbes and air;
3. Even if the manufacturer allows you to apply cosmetics on the eyelids with your fingers, it is better to do this with special devices: a brush, a brush, a sponge (this way you will not introduce germs into the product, if you are used to applying makeup with your fingertips, make sure that your hands are always clean) ;
4. Wash eyeshadow applicators 1-2 times a week with soap or mild baby shampoo;
5. Do not dilute the shadows with water and even more so with saliva;
6. Don't let others apply your makeup;
7. If you drop the package with the product on the floor, be sure to wipe it with a cotton pad moistened with alcohol;
8. Buy eye shadow only in specialized stores. So you get a guarantee that the product was stored in compliance with the necessary conditions.

Master class for shadow lovers:
1. Determine the main tone and, using a brush or applicator, apply it on the eyelid in the direction from the inner corner - to the outer, from the beginning of eyelash growth - to the crease of the upper eyelid.
2. Having typed a shadow of a dark shade on the brush, draw a line along the eyelid with it in the direction from the inner edge to the outer. Slightly pressing the brush, blend the transition from dark to light.
3. For a more open look, apply light shadows under the eyebrow in the inner corner of the eye.

!!! Another important secret:before applying shadows on the eyes, you should first use a special base.
